Who we are

Chinese Dialogues is operated by OKAROKU (“we”, “us”). This policy explains what personal data we collect from users of this service, why we collect it, and how you can contact us about it.

Information we collect

When you create an account and use the service, we collect:

• Account information: name and email address, and a hashed password (we never store your password in plain text)
• Subscription information: your Stripe customer and subscription IDs, and subscription status. We do not store your card number — payments are handled entirely by Stripe
• Learning activity: dialogues you favorite or mark as learned, saved words, and playlists you create
• Anything you send us through the contact form, including your email address and message

How we use it

• To provide the service: sign-in, saving your learning progress, and managing your subscription
• To send you transactional emails (password resets, email verification, sign-in codes) via Resend
• To respond to messages you send through the contact form

We do not use your data for advertising, and we do not sell your data to third parties.

Cookies

We use a single essential cookie to keep you signed in. We do not use analytics or advertising cookies.

Service providers

We share data with the following providers as needed to run the service:

• Stripe — payment processing
• Resend — transactional email delivery
• Vercel — application hosting
• Turso — database hosting

Some of these providers may process data on servers outside Japan, including in the United States.

Data retention

We keep your account data for as long as your account is active. If you want your account and associated data deleted, contact us and we’ll take care of it.

Your rights

You can ask us to access, correct, delete, or stop processing your personal data at any time by contacting us. We’ll respond to reasonable requests within a reasonable time.

Children

This service is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect data from children.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we’ll update the “Last updated” date above.
